Yes! I collected items for YEARS, then when I had my first home I let 2 friends use my attic and garage for their stuff.....O my! I had surrounded myself with things as a reaction to abandonment....my stuff never left me like others had.....but then THINGS NEVER LEFT ME and they started to overtake me! I went through the book Clutter Free by Kathy Lipp and WOW, that made a difference that and moving across the state when we got married! 3 questions Kathy had us answer....1. Do I currently use it? 2. Do I really LOVE it? 3. Would I buy it again? That really changed what I kept....AND coming to a realization that Gramma is not IN that cup and saucer...I have plenty of memories of her.....the cup/saucer went to bless others! This is a PROCeSS and the system you come up with has to work for you and your family!

LOVE that you are healing and things are leaving your space! Love you too!!

Your words mean so much to me. For a long time, there were certain things I had to go without or I’d feel guilt anytime something was bought for me. Once I had my own money, I’d buy whatever I wanted to compensate for what I didn’t ask for as a kid. Wild how emotional things became for me and how frivolous my spending became. As I started healing, things became less emotional. It’s still really hard to let go sometimes but I’m becoming more at peace with giving away and not living in a scarcity mindset.

I love hearing you can relate. I’d say consignment or giving it directly to someone is the easiest way for me to shut down that anxiety, yes. I think about people being blessed by something that was causing me stress and I think it shuts down that feedback loop.
